Bartec Municipal Technologies is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured. This Carbon Footprint Plan (CRP) is the baseline year November 2021 – October 2022.

Baseline Year: 2021 – 2022
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations:Bartec Municipal Technologies did not have access to October 2022 data during the measurement, so this month has been measured on averages across the period. The following Scope 3 Emissions were measured:
Purchased Goods & Services
Fuel & Energy Related Activities
Business Travel
Transportation & Distribution (Downstream)
Transportation & Distribution (Upstream)
Employee Commuting
Operational Waste
Baseline year emissions:
EMISSIONSTOTAL (tCO2e)
Scope 10.059
Scope 22.592
Scope 3 315.582
Total Emissions318.233

Emissions reduction targets

Bartec Municipal Technologies is committed to achieving Net Zero by 2040.

There are no existing carbon emission reduction targets against which to report progress.

To progress towards Net Zero, this plan sets carbon reduction targets for the 7-year period to 2030. During this time, targets will be set for the remaining period to ensure Net Zero will be achieved by 2050.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2021 – 2022baseline.

ActivityComplete DateScope
Commitment to measuring carbon footprint of business activities year on year to gain an understanding of pinch points and regularly be making efficient and direct improvements to reduce these emissions. Year 1 appointed Positive Planet to support with calculating baseline carbon footprint and reduction recommendations.20221,2,3
Implemented management tool ISO 14001 to align further development to reducing emissions and monitoring year on year the organisations environmental impact. 1,2,3

Future Carbon Reduction Plans

Future Carbon reduction measures planned to 2030:

REDUCTION PLANS
Activity No.ActivityTarget DatetCO2e Reduction %Scope
1Training and engagement for Green Team to lead on. Including and not limited to, creating spaces for environmental positive conversations (internal comms, newsletters, slack. Teams etc), certified Carbon Literacy Training for all applicable to roll out to further workforce and share with externals where appropriate.20235-15%(Per Individual certified)1,2,3
2Consider procurement of 100% renewable tariff at new renew date for energy. This change will reduce emissions from a market-based boundary to 0tCO2e. Internal messaging and behaviour influence within the workplace for reduction of emissions, including clear messaging for turning off lights, monitors, computers, and other electrical appliances where appropriate.High-level monitoring of energy use is key to understanding further pinch points.202513%(Location)2
Consider a Sustainability Audit or Survey to request further information regarding credentials – Plan to send these to the Top 5/10 suppliers by spend. This data collection will support reduction journey by gathering important data for year two measurement & encourage supply chain integration towards Net Zero. Complete this audit within Two Phases – 1.         Identify suppliers for engagement. Formulate and collect data (survey/scoring)2.         When scoring and evaluating responses, use this date to make informed decisions regarding new procurement policies or statements. 202416%3
Implement or develop a global holistic travel policy to support environmental impact of choices when travelling, staying in hotels and commuting. The priorities within this policy will support active travel and low emission travel options where appropriate. Phase 1 consider where appropriate, driver efficiency training for all users of company owned vehicles. Drive incentives for behaviour change and challenge idling and efficiency. Partner with organisations such as FORSPhase 2 consider all renewals on company owned vehicles to move away from ICE vehicles to EV’s or Hybrids when the infrastructure is appropriate.Monitor and consider alternatives to air-based travel as a priority and commit to offering support to workforce with options for active travel schemes; such as bike to work or car sharing opportunities.Utilise the emissions travel hierarchy –Digital communicationWalking & wellbeingCyclingPublic and shared transportPublic and shared EV’s and car sharingICE vehicles and car sharingAir Travel Consider creative ways to engage and support workforce to influence change for example setting an internal organisation carbon credit scheme (limit that to a number of tCO2e per year), extra holiday days for low emission travel choice, bonuses or subsidised travel.20248%3

Based upon the above completed and planned initiatives, it is projected that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years from the current normalised measurement of 318.233 tCO2e to 269.264 tCO2e up to 2030. This is a reduction of 15.38%
