Full speed ahead for recycling in Portsmouth

Portsmouth City Council bring waste and recycling service in-house

On 1st April 2024, Portsmouth City Council brought their entire waste and recycling service in-house, with management of operations handled by Collective.

The full fleet of refuse collection vehicles is now operated directly by Portsmouth City Council’s own waste and recycling team. Operations and collections planning is done in Collective, with each refuse vehicle fitted with in-cab systems to track progress, inform crews and manage service delivery.

Safety and security is enhanced with integrated on-board video from Contel. Crew working practices are remotely audited to ensure safe working.
